Creamy Garlic Chicken
Easy Creamy Garlic Chicken was a rather unexpected invention. It happens from time to time; you look in your kitchen to see what you have to make a meal out of. I had chicken, and ingredients for a different dish.
I thought, hey why not? Pan seared chicken melded with the sauce for turkey meatballs like a charm! It turned out so delicious that I will definitely make it again. It did give me a craving for those meatballs though, that post will come soon enough.
How can you go wrong with anything in a garlic cream sauce? We love garlic! It’s so good for you, and tastes great too. I always use about twice as much as any recipe says to use because I love it so much.
Getting Ready to Cook
This is a stove top prepared chicken dish. All you need is a good heavy skillet and some fresh chicken and garlic to get going. Add some heavy whipping cream and Parmesan cheese and you are all set.
Heat up a splash of olive oil in the skillet and brown some lightly breaded chicken breasts with your minced garlic. I like to cook them to almost done, not fully done. Remove them from the pan and set them aside.
Pour your heavy whipping cream right into those chicken juices and garlic. Allow it to come up to a boil and let it reduce to thicken. Keep stirring, or it will try to come out of the pan.
Fresh shredded Parmesan cheese should be added to the hot cream. Stir it all in and let the cheese melt. Put your chicken back into the sauce, reduce the heat, and cover the pan. This lets the chicken finish, and lets the sauce thicken up nicely.
Serving Suggestions
Since this sauce is so similar to the sauce for my turkey meatballs, I know what goes good with it. Pasta of any kind tastes great with this sauce. Mashed potatoes and rice pair good as well. Pretty much any starch that will soak up the garlicky goodness will be a hit!
Green vegetables of any kind add that all important color to the plate. Green vegetables are my favorite because they are so good for you and taste great. I like ones you can dip in the sauce for this one. Asparagus, fresh green beans, or broccoli.
Garlic bread also dips nicely into the sauce. You can’t go wrong with too much garlic, can you? Try some sourdough garlic Parmesan toast, you won’t regret it.
Saving Some for Lunch
It is my usual thing when making dinner, I make extra to eat the next day. This saves cash in the long run because I always have a fresh, healthy lunch at work. So, I save my wallet, and my arteries by not buying fast food every day, it works great for me.
Transfer any leftovers into airtight containers and pop them in the fridge. They will be safe to eat for 3-4 days after they were cooked. If you want to save them longer, they will keep in the freezer for about 3 months.
Simply open the lid and pop the bowl in the microwave for a couple of minutes to heat it up. Stir it and flip the chicken over and heat for another minute or so. Make sure your frozen leftovers are thawed before reheating so that it heats evenly and thoroughly.
