The Best Chicken Noodle Soup

Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

This is the best, easiest chicken noodle soup recipe! And it’s homemade, from scratch! I’ve been making it for years every time someone in the house gets sick. They all love this soup recipe.

Whether you’re feeling under the weather or simply craving comfort food, this soup is a classic dish that never disappoints. Grandma’s have been making it for years, and for good reason too. Chicken Noodle Soup just seems to have some magic to it when it comes to flu season.

This soup is hearty, warm, and comforting all in one. As an added plus, it really does seem to be the magic cure for any ailment. And it’s so easy, you can make it for yourself with just a little bit more effort than opening a can, and it’s better for you!

Making the Soup

This is one of the easiest soups to make ever! You just mix the ingredients in a pan and let them cook for a few minutes and you are ready to enjoy. So simple, yet so yummy! My older child even said, “that’s it?” when she called for the recipe one day. Yes Dear, it’s that easy!

All you have to do is cut some chicken breast into bite sized pieces and toss into a pan of chicken broth with some celery, onion, and carrots. Allow about 20 minutes for these to cook and add some broken pieces of fettuccine noodles or any noodle you have on hand. The soup is ready to serve once the noodles are cooked.

easy delicious chicken noodle soup

I do prefer the fettuccine noodles as they hold their form best in a soup. Egg noodles tend to get mushy, and elbow macaroni is just not cool in a soup. I have used bow-ties, and they worked really well. It may be the uneven sizes of the noodles that are just fun when you break the fettuccine by hand to add it to the soup.

Chicken Noodle Soup Magic

What is it about Chicken Noodle Soup that seems to heal any ailment? Maybe it’s the vitamin content from the vegetables, or the hydration from the broth. The warmth of the broth as it hits a sore throat is simply soothing, so you can actually relax and rest.

This soup is packed with the nutrition your body needs to recover. Gentle, easy soups are also easy to digest, so you won’t have to worry about an upset stomach when you already don’t feel well. There is a reason why Chicken soup had been used for decades when the kids get the sniffles.

This classic, easy to make soup will become a family favorite in no time. It’s simple, it’s tasty, and it works its magic. My kids ask for it when they start to feel ill, and I make it every time. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but it does make them feel better.

Tomorrows Lunch

Lunch? Tomorrow? I barely even made enough for now!

If you have extra, just store it in an airtight container to reheat whenever you would like it. This recipe is for a small batch, but you could easily double it to feed an entire family.

Warming it up is just as easy as making it. Microwave for a couple minutes and it’s just as delicious as the first day. It’s the fettuccine noodles that withstand the cooking, cooling, and reheating the best!

I hope you enjoy this little family secret recipe that has kept us moving for the last thirty years. From our house to yours, enjoy.
