Crockpot Turkey with Mushroom Sauce

I love this easy crockpot turkey with mushroom sauce recipe. It is one of my super easy go to for a quick tasty meal. Set it up in the morning, come home to a hot home cooked meal.

Let’s face it, that is why we all love a good crockpot. They make preparing a home cooked meals so easy and effortless. The variety you can cook is astounding too! Soups, roasts, all in one meals, you name it, a good crockpot can handle it.

I especially like that this recipe uses lean turkey for a healthy twist on dinner. You shouldn’t have to wait until November each year to enjoy some delicious turkey for dinner. Plus, turkey is generally inexpensive to help out with your family food budget.

Setting It Up

Getting this recipe ready is a piece of cake. It’s almost a dump it together and let it cook type of meal. There just one little step that makes it NOT a dump in meal.

Place your turkey skin side up in the crockpot, brush with melted butter and sprinkle on your seasonings. Add sliced mushrooms to the pot and pour on your wine or broth. Set it too cook for 7-8 hours on low and head off to work for the day.

When you get home, remove the turkey from the crockpot, and skim off any fat that has accumulated. Transfer the cooking juices to a sauce pan and thicken with cornstarch. This makes a delicious gravy that really pulls this dish together.

Serve with cooked pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes. Pairs nicely with some fresh green vegetables as well. Give this easy one a shot tonight, you won’t regret it!

  1. Place Turkey, skin side up (if there is skin), in crockpot.
  2. Brush Turkey with butter and sprinkle with parsley, tarragon, salt, and pepper. Top with mushrooms.
  3. Pour wine or broth into crockpot.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours.
  5. Remove turkey and keep warm. Remove fat from cooking juices.
  6. In saucepan, add cooking juices from crockpot, bring to boil.
  7. Combine cold water and cornstarch. Slowly pour into boiling cooking juices, stirring constantly until thickened.
  8. Slice turkey and cover with mushroom sauce.

Notes

  • Make it a hearty meal by serving it with rice, pasta, or potatoes.
