It looks fancy, and sounds complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. It really only takes one good pan, and you have a great meal. For this I suggest a Other than a good pan, you need some patience. Not too much as its pretty fast to prepare. Once you have your prep work done that is.

Cooking Up Some Gumbo

Start off by prepping all of your ingredients. Chop your bell pepper, onion, and celery into small pieces. Slice your andouille sausage and squash into slices. Crush or mince your garlic. If you can get fresh okra, make sure you chop it too, if not frozen will work fine.

Begin cooking by making a rue in your pan by combining the butter and flour and letting it simmer until brown. Add in onion, bell pepper and celery. Keep stirring it to prevent burning until the onions are soft. Finally toss in your garlic and Bay leaf.

Add in your liquids and bring the pot up to a boil. Stir in your Cajun seasoning, sausage, squash, and okra. Allow this to cook until squash and okra are done. Add in your shrimp and cook another 10 minutes until shrimp are pink. Serve over rice.
